When we look around and love everything we see, is it not the deepest of healing experiences? People go to botanical gardens, bird and butterfly sanctuaries, the beach, the mountains, antique shops and art museums for this gentle high. We enter such a space and often sigh a deep breath. We find ourselves in the moment, because there is no better place to be.
What does it feel like? The past rolls off the shoulders and we float in weightlessness. The present moment is a gentle breeze with the power to blow away worries. The serenity seems so omnipresent in such places that negative states cannot thrive there, nor generate. There is a certain reverence, a devotion to beauty, a silent hymn of the heart. There is something that touches to the essence, pristine and pure, inviting us to merge with it. Thus, it is truly transformative, and healing.
Healing is a transformation from a denser state into a lighter state. It is the light that penetrates through the places where pressure has built up in one’s energy field – pressure that causes dis-ease in the long-term if it is left to accumulate, if the mind does not rest in the present moment often enough, and into a state of gratitude often enough. We are always grateful for what is serene and beautiful!
Such a serene experience is a sanctuary, a layer between consciousness and the chaos of a turbulent, unbalanced, dense and often dark world. What we love, in contrast, what beauty fills the heart with joy, is like the stars in the night sky. We seek them out because they provide comfort, like a night light in a child’s bedroom.
Our individual dwelling, the home, is the most personal space we have for this comfort. It is our invitation to create from the depths, to surround ourselves with what we love. It is an opportunity to open our eyes every morning to a most nurturing experience: open windows and birdsong, for those who live in the country. Perhaps some soft, timeless music – no lyrics, just the sound of a cello or a dove-like song flute. To rise and stretch and shower in peace: what a luxury to be grateful for!
The home is, indeed, closer to a guarantee of psychoemotional comfort than any place we can be…if we cultivate it properly, if we nourish it with what awakens the senses in the gentlest of ways, like the soft voice of a mother to her baby. In this way we can tend to our own needs by creating a home that mirrors those pristine qualities of our deepest essence, and there we can become as children – at least while we sleep and during what hours we spend awake at home.
This sacred space becomes our replenishment, our healing sanctuary, when we love the experience of being there, because we surround ourselves with what we love, what uplifts us and brings us joy and serenity. In such a space, the vast majority of dis-eases (at least 90%) melt away, quickly or slowly, because when the mind is at peace, so is the body in its optimal state. Thus, if we are so blessed, we may live long to enjoy what we love for as long as gracious life extends before us.
