I was at a client’s house recently and he had a bottle of MCT oil on his counter, by his coffee. A few years ago, I had purchased the same for my coffee, so I paused to talk about it. I asked him what he uses it for, and he couldn’t remember what it was good for. I said I asked him because I, myself, had used it and also couldn’t remember what it was good for.
“I think it’s good for the brain,” I suggested.
He replied, “Then it must not work that well!”
We burst out belly-laughing, imprinting a moment of joy into his quiet house, and I returned to working in his kitchen.
When I work, I consider what is needed for balance at the metaphysical level, and I quietly bring this to clients’ homes. It is part of healing home. Clients can feel that the value of this work is deeper than the physical layer. It’s what makes Hearth Mysticism unique.
Showing up regularly, planting seeds, gives birth to more seeds; and flowers can grow to outnumber the weeds.
I always begin my work by lighting a “gender-neutral” scented candle. My latest visit to this same client’s house, I walked in and it smelled warm and inviting. He was simmering cinnamon sticks on his stove. This was a new seasonal moment for him – a turning from winter to spring. He is healing his own home as he himself heals, stepping forward from longtime pain.
It is the joy of this work to witness deep transformation in clients’ homes as they experience joy in small steps into healing.
