Imbolc: Light a Candle, Light YOUR Candle

Midway between the longest night of the year and the dawn of spring, Imbolc stands like a white candle in the snow on a quiet morning.

Imbolc is bi-directional, energetically speaking: contemplative and quietly anticipatory. It is a time of hope, of ideas and clarity, of knowing that the inner light is enough to sustain us, and a symbolic calling to the sun.

Today I light a special candle. This lineage – Hearth Mysticism, brought forth from the innate instincts of humanity – is my ever-burning candle for the world.

Shine your light as only you can!

What we can do in our home to align with this time of year:

  • Light a candle. Light an inner candle as well, making a quiet promise to yourself of something that you will complete by summer solstice.
  • Open curtains, wash windows, and briefly open them to bring in new possibilities.
  • Go through your rooms with a duster and remove all cobwebs.
  • Have a special cup of tea: lavender, oatstraw, chamomile, marshmallow root, rose, white or light green teas are all beautiful, soft choices that are aligned with this space in time between winter and spring.

What promise of completion will you make to yourself this day?
